Acting DPP appointed

April 22, 2024
The appointment took effect today.

An acting Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has been appointed.

She is Claudette Thompson, whose substantive post is senior deputy DPP.

The appointment took effect today and will run for six months.

Incumbent Paula Llewellyn stepped away Sunday because of "ambiguity" over a constitutional court ruling.

The Constitutional Court on Friday ruled that an amendment to the Constitution giving Llewellyn the power to elect to remain on the job was null and void and of no legal effect.

The Government plans to file an appeal against the ruling.
