Burglary and larceny charges have been laid against 52-year-old Portland labourer Wayne Harnett, otherwise called ‘Touche’, for stealing a man’s IPhone cell phone through a window while he slept in his home in Bryan’s Lane.

Reports from the Port Antonio police are that about 10 p.m. on Sunday, April 21, a man left his bedroom window open and went to bed with his white IPhone 11 cell phone beside him.

The window was meshed.

The police say he woke up the following morning and discovered that the phone was missing.

He made checks and discovered that the mesh was cut from the window and a piece of board was on his bed and hanging through the window.

The matter was reported to the police and the phone was later tracked and found in another area of the parish.

It was handed over to the lawmen by a man who informed them that he had purchased it from Harnett.

The accused man was taken into custody following an operation at his home and charged on Wednesday, April 24.

His court date is being finalised.
