Pinnock and McLeod move ahead to long jump final, Gayle misses out
Long jumpers Wayne Pinnock and Carey McLeod today advanced to the final at the Paris Games.
However, 2019 world champion Tajay Gayle missed out.
Gayle finished 10th in Group B and 19th overall in the qualification round with his best effort of 7.78 metres falling short of the required mark needed to advance to the final.
McLeod, however, did just enough to get into the final as his jump of 7.90 was tied with 12th placed Simon Batz of Germany as the qualifying cut-off point.
Pinnock was the best performer on the day for Jamaica.
He was comfortably into the final with his effort of 7.96, seeing him ranked seventh.
The final is set for Tuesday at 1:15 p.m.
