Clean break - Woman allegedly steals Fabuloso from ex-boyfriend’s house

In the latest chapter of Jamaica's tumultuous love stories, a woman found herself in court after allegedly breaking into her ex-boyfriend's home to take a half bottle of Fabuloso cleaner.

Police revealed that the couple, whose rocky on-again, off-again relationship often spills into legal disputes, live near a police station. On this occasion, the woman reportedly entered her ex's home and removed several items, including a grey-and-white pair of Nike sneakers valued at $19,000, a plug-in air freshener, a romper, and a dirty sheet.

The woman insisted the items were hers, telling Judge Sanchia Burrell in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court, "Him was right there! Mi walk pass him, and as mi walk pass him, come out."

A perplexed Burrell asked, "And what you went for was Fabuloso and plug-in? That's yours?"

"Yes," the woman responded, adding that her ex had refused to return her belongings despite multiple requests.

The matter escalated when the woman visited the police station, allegedly assaulted an officer, and used indecent language. Burrell, bemused by the bizarre theft, quipped, "But who breaks into somebody's house to steal a half bottle of Fabuloso and a plug-in? That's a very clean thief. Clearly, this didn't need to escalate."

Despite her claims of innocence regarding disorderly conduct, the woman's fiery tone in court prompted Burrell to caution, "You are misbehaving now."

In a twist, the police revealed the ex-boyfriend has been dodging court appearances, leading Burrell to speculate, "Maybe he's terribly in love with her and doesn't want her to go to jail."

The woman pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and indecent language, earning fines of $1,000 for each charge. She avoided further penalties after agreeing to mediation with the officer involved.

The case is set for another hearing on March 22, 2025, with her ex-boyfriend expected to appear.
