ST. JOHN'S, Antigua, CMC - A Jamaican national, who had been remanded into custody after appearing in court on Thursday on a charge of larceny of a cell phone, was found dead in his cell on Friday.

Superintendent of Prison, Colonel Trevor Pennyfeather, confirming the death of Chinlee Robinson, 27, said he was found unresponsive on his bed in the cell and that it is too early to determine the cause.

Officers from the Criminal Investigations Department are currently on the scene conducting inquiries into the incident.

Robinson had appeared in court on Thursday for a hearing, but bail complications arose due to his missing passport.
