Man arrested at Big Apple Night Club in St Ann

A man has been arrested and a firearm seized by the police in St Ann during a raid of the Big Apple Night Club on Sunday.

Reports are that about 3:20 a.m., police personnel from the Brown's Town station conducted a snap raid at the night club.

The man was searched and a Smith and Wesson M&P pistol affixed with a magazine containing one round of nine millimetre cartridges was allegedly seized.

He was taken into custody on suspicion of possession of prohibited weapon and unauthorised possession of ammunition.

The Brown's Town Criminal Investigation Branch is probing the matter.
