April 14, 2025

A 26-year-old Trelawny man is to appear in the Parish Court on April 17 to answer to rape and other charges for allegedly kidnapping and sexually assaulting a woman in the parish on April 10.

Charged with possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorised possession of ammunition, three counts of rape and forcible abduction is Brandon Haughton, otherwise called 'KJ' of Greenvale district.

Allegations are that between 1:00 a.m. and 4:30 a.m., a woman went to a party with Haughton.

Whilst at the event, she asked a friend to pick her up and then left.

The woman's friend stopped at a nearby shop to make a purchase, following which Haughton pulled up to the same location.

He allegedly ordered the woman to exit her friend's vehicle, forced her into his, and then took her to a house where he reportedly sexually assaulted her.

The police were alerted, and the lawmen carried out a raid at the address he took the woman.

She was seen at the house with the accused and was removed.

A search of the premises was also conducted in his presence and view.

During the search, a Taurus Armour G2C 9 mm pistol with a magazine containing five 9mm cartridges was reportedly found on the bedroom floor.

Haughton was taken into custody while the woman was assisted to the hospital, where she was medically examined.

Haughton was formally charged on Saturday, April 12, and is slated to appear in court on Thursday.
