Woman raped after leaving party
A 26-year-old man from Trelawny has been charged with rape, forcible abduction, and multiple firearm-related offences following a disturbing incident last Thursday.
His identity is being withheld to protect the identity of the victim.
Reports are that between 1 a.m. and 4:30 a.m., the accused and the woman had attended a party together in the parish. At some point during the event, the woman reportedly contacted a friend to pick her up.
After leaving the party with her friend, they stopped at a nearby shop. It was there that the accused allegedly arrived, ordered the woman out of her friend's vehicle, and forcibly placed her into his own. He then reportedly transported her to a house, where he sexually assaulted her.
The police were later alerted and conducted a raid at the residence. Upon arrival, they found the woman inside with the accused and removed her from the location. A subsequent search of the premises led to the discovery of a Taurus Armour G2C 9mm pistol and a magazine containing five 9mm rounds on the bedroom floor.
The man was taken into custody and later charged with rape, forcible abduction, possession of a prohibited weapon, and unauthorised possession of ammunition.
He is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
