Mechanic facing gun-related charges
Charges of wounding with intent, arson, illegal possession of a firearm and illegal possession of ammunition have been laid against a man following an incident in Clarendon on May 9, 2021.
Charged is 29-year-old Orane Vernal, otherwise called 'Jubi', a mechanic of Mount Pleasant district. Reports from the May Pen police are that at 1 a.m., a man was awakened by strange noises coming from outside his house. He also smelled gasolene. Moments later, he noticed that his back door had been set on fire. During his attempt to exit the house, Vernal, who was waiting outside, allegedly pointed a firearm at him and fired several shots. The man managed to escape and alerted the police. Upon the arrival of the lawmen, the man was seen walking along the roadway suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to the hospital where he was admitted.
On Wednesday, Vernal was apprehended during an operation and was later charged following a question-and-answer interview. His court date is being finalised.
