Police constable arrested, illegal gun seized

A police constable attached to the St Mary police division has been arrested after he was allegedly caught with an illegal gun in Kingston on Sunday.

The 28-year-old is charged with suspicion of possession a prohibited weapon and unauthorised possession of ammunition.

Reports are that about 12:01 a.m., the police conducted a stop and search operation in Denham Town and the suspect was held with an S&W 40 pistol affixed with a magazine containing 12 rounds of cartridges.

The Denham Town Criminal Investigations Branch is probing the matter.
