Teen boy on gun charges
A 15-year-old boy is now facing serious gun-related charges after allegedly opening fire at a police patrol team on the Ferry main road in Kingston 20 during the early hours of Thursday, May 22.
According to reports from the Hunts Bay police, the incident unfolded around 12:55 a.m. when officers on patrol spotted the teen walking with two men.
Upon noticing the police, one of the men reportedly raised a rifle, the other a handgun, and began firing at the lawmen. The police returned fire, and the trio fled in different directions.
The teenager was later found in a nearby yard suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to hospital for treatment and subsequently released into police custody.
Following an interview in the presence of his attorney, the teen was charged on Friday, with two counts of assault at common law, possession of a prohibited weapon, using a firearm to commit a felony, and discharge of firearm.
His alleged accomplices remain at large. The police are continuing their investigation.
