Boy held on gun charge

Investigators assigned to the St Andrew Central Police Division have charged a teenage boy with robbery with aggravation, possession of prohibited weapon and unauthorised possession of ammunition following an incident in the parish on March 12.

Reports from the Half-Way Tree police are that at 6:30 a.m., a man was walking along Chatham Avenue when he was stopped by the teen and his companion on a motorcycle. The teen, who was brandishing a firearm, demanded the man's Samsung Galaxy cell phone and then made his escape on the motorcycle in the area. A report was made to the police and the teen was arrested following an operation. He was subsequently charged following a question-and-answer session in the presence of his attorney on Tuesday.

A court date for him is being arranged.
