Woman stabbed during robbery

Nineteen-year-old Dwight McCarthy of Stokes Hall district, Golden Grove, St Thomas, has been charged with robbery with violence and unlawful wounding following an incident on Heywood Street, Kingston, on May 26.

Reports from the Half-Way Tree police are that at 3:30 p.m., a woman was standing in a business establishment counting money when McCarthy approached her and snatched the money from her grasp. In an effort to retrieve her money, she held on to him. He then used a knife to inflict stab wounds to her upper body. A report was made to the police, and McCarthy was arrested and was later charged after being positively identified.

His court date is yet to be decided.
