Fatal crash claims life of woman, injures four others in St Mary
Authorities are investigating a car accident that killed a woman and injured four others this morning near Tulloch's Auto Parts on the Trinity main road in St Mary.
Dead is 30-year-old Alldine McLeggon of Grant's Town in the parish.
The other passengers, including three minors, were treated and released.
All of them are related.
Reports are that at 2:00 a.m., a grey Toyota Axio motor car was travelling from the Belfield Pen area towards the community of Wilderness, when the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle.
"The car subsequently crashed into a concrete column at the entrance of Tulloch's Auto Parts, "said Anthony Wallace, commanding officer for the St Mary Police Division.
"Five persons including the driver, were aboard the vehicle at the time of the incident. All occupants sustained injuries and were assisted to the Port Maria Hospital by passersby, "he added.
McLeggon of Grant's Town in the parish succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment.
The police are urging motorists to exercise caution, especially during late-night travel, and to drive within the prescribed speed limit.
