Williams cries foul
Danishka Williams, the People's National Party candidate for St Ann South West, is raising fresh concerns about what she deems escalating political intimidation in the constituency.
Williams, who is set to face off against the Jamaica Labour Party's Zavia Mayne in the upcoming general election, said several of her campaign boards have been deliberately removed.
"... About seven of them were taken down in the Clarksonville community, from the main road to the intersection into the community, as well as the one heading into Cave Valley, before you get to the police station," Williams reported.
Williams said that it is the third time her campaign materials have been removed.
"This pattern of behaviour reflects a growing level of political intimidation that must be confronted and condemned by all well-thinking Jamaicans," she said.
She said political candidates must be allowed to campaign freely and without fear.
"I, like other candidates, must be allowed to campaign in peace. There is no democracy without fair and free campaigning," she said.
