Clarendon man accused of two thefts in one night
Twenty-eight-year-old Michael Thomas, of Blackwood, Clarendon, was slapped with several charges in two separate incidents in the parish.
In the first incident, Thomas was charged with robbery with aggravation and rape following an incident at a bar on May 21. Reports are that at 7 p.m., Thomas entered the establishment and ordered cigarettes. Upon being served, he brandished a firearm and demanded sexual favours from the bartender. After his desires were met, he demanded more cigarettes and cash before escaping in the area.
In the second incident, Thomas was charged with robbery with aggravation and possession of a prohibited weapon following an incident at another bar later that night in May Pen. Reports from the May Pen police are that Thomas went to the bar and ordered a drink. While being served, he brandished a firearm and demanded cash and the bartender's iPhone before escaping in the area.
The incidents were reported to the police who commenced an investigation. On June 14, Thomas was captured by the police in the area and taken into custody where he was charged. He is scheduled to appear before the Clarendon Parish Court on July 7.
