KINGSTOWN, St Vincent, CMC -Two members of the Special Services Unit of the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) have been placed on administrative leave after a video surfaced on social media showing them beating up a man.

"The RSVGPF maintains a steadfast commitment to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and integrity. Any deviation from these standards is taken seriously and addressed promptly. We extend our gratitude to the public for their continued support and cooperation."

The video shows the two officers, wearing their green camouflage tactical uniform, beating the man repeatedly even after he falls to the ground. The circumstances surrounding the beating are unclear, but the RSVGPF said in its statement that it "unequivocally condemns the inappropriate actions of two police officers captured in a video circulating on social media.

"The footage depicts an incident involving the apprehension of a suspect near PeppaKorn Supermarket in Kingstown," it said, noting that the acting Commissioner of Police, Enville Williams, had initiated a comprehensive investigation into the matter.

"The officers involved have been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of this inquiry," the statement said.
