Police arrest two men in St Mary firearm bust
Two men are in custody following the seizure of an illegal firearm during a National Coordinated Roadblock operation along the Trinity Main Road in Port Maria, St Mary, on Sunday.
According to the St Mary police, about 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, a Glock pistol with the serial number erased, along with a magazine containing eleven 9mm rounds, was recovered after the suspects attempted to flee from a vehicle that was intercepted during the operation.
The men were arrested and will be charged for breaches of the Firearms Act. They are currently being processed, and their identities are being verified.
"The St Mary police remain resolute in their efforts to rid the streets of illegal weapons and ensure the safety of all citizens," stated Anthony Wallace, Commanding Officer for the St Mary Police Division.
In recent times, the St Mary police have had success in dismantling criminal activities across the division, including the arrest of seven persons for possession of identity information, which is a major offence commonly linked to lottery scamming, on July 27.
