INDECOM probing killing of alleged gang leader in St Andrew and man in St James
Two men were killed in separate police operations early Monday, one in St James where an illegal firearm was recovered and another in St Andrew where police say a suspected gang leader was shot dead.
In the first incident, Lindel Gray, otherwise called 'Frass' or 'Sassa Frass', was shot and killed during an alleged confrontation in the Anchovy Police area about 1:00 a.m. The police say they recovered an illegal firearm at the scene.
In the second incident, about 5:00 a.m., police acting on information swooped down on a premises in Shooters Hill, St Andrew, where an alleged confrontation ensued.
A man identified as Andre 'Likkle Zullu' Reid, said to be the leader of the KDF Gang, was fatally shot.
Police believe the operations are linked to the investigation into Saturday's deadly attack on a policeman and his family near Reading in St James.
In that attack, the policeman's wife Latoya Crystal Stephenson, an HR manager, was killed, while the cop and his son are admitted in hospital.
The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) is probing both shooting deaths.
Since the start of the year, as of August 4, INDECOM has launched investigations into 191 fatal shootings. The agency probed 189 fatal shootings for all of 2024.
Meanwhile, the police have advised their members to be vigilant, especially those working in St James, as intelligence suggests gang members are planning to avenge the deaths of their associates.
