Boat captain held with illegal firearm
Detectives assigned to the Westmoreland Police Division have charged a boat captain with possession of prohibited weapon and unauthorised possession of ammunition following the seizure of a Kel-Tec pistol with and a magazine containing five .380 rounds, on the Ferris main road on Monday.
Charged is 37-year-old Javin Grant, otherwise called 'Jah Vinci', of Long Pond, Little London. Reports from the Savanna-la-Mar police are that at 7:35 p.m., Grant, who was driving a grey Honda motor car, was signalled to stop by lawmen at a vehicular checkpoint, to which he complied. The vehicle was searched, and the firearm and ammunition found inside.
He was arrested and taken into custody, where he was charged with the offence shortly after. His court date is being finalised.
