Farmer charged with wounding

Twenty-nine-year-old Okieve Ellis, a farmer of Buff Bay, Portland, has been charged with wounding with intent following an incident at Nelson Street, Buff Bay, Portland, on July 14.

Reports from the Buff Bay police are that at 8 p.m., Ellis and another man were having a heated argument when Ellis used a machete to chop the man all over his body, causing wounds which bled. The injured man was assisted to the hospital for treatment and a report was subsequently made to the police.

An investigation was launched and Ellis was accosted and brought into custody where he was charged on July 23. He is scheduled to appear before the Portland Parish Court on August 20.
