Transport Authority employee under probe after firearm incident

January 20, 2026

A Transport Authority employee has been removed from front-line duties and placed under investigation after a video circulating on social media appears to show him pulling a firearm during an operation.

The Authority said the incident has triggered an internal probe and a coordinated review with external agencies, including the Jamaica Constabulary Force and the Firearm Licensing Authority. The objective, it noted, is to fully establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and determine whether any breaches of policy or the law occurred.

"The Authority wishes to unequivocally state that this type of conduct does not form any part of its training protocols and is not aligned with its Standard Operating Procedures or Public Interaction Policy," the entity said.
