The 2015 season of the Deran Lee/JaVA/Philip Greenland Developmental Volleyball Championships for primary-level schools in Westmoreland began yesterday with a one-day rally (ODR) at the Loving Care Christian Academy, Farm Pen Road, Savanna-la-Mar, for schools in the West Zone.

Schools in the East Zone contest their ODR today at Salem Primary and Junior High in the Beeston Spring area. Starting time is 9 a.m.

Twelve schools are expected to contest this the seventh consecutive staging of the championships, and defending three-time winners Holly Hill Primary and Infant will be going all out for a fourth title but should be severely challenged by Savanna-la-Mar and Unity Primary, national champions in 2013 and 2011, respectively.

The league section, to be played in two legs with the top four from each zone advancing to quarter-finals, begins October 27.

Parish winner and runner-up are guaranteed a spot in the national finals set for November 28 at a venue to be announced.
