The board of directors of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) has approved a bowling-review committee to look closely at players who have been reported and/or suspended for illegal bowling actions in international games.

The committee will review, assess and make the relevant recommendations of all the international players before they are allowed to bowl in domestic competitions.

The announcement was made by President Dave Cameron at the end of a two-day meeting held in St Lucia, on December 12 and 13

Among the other decisions approved by the directors were the adjustment to the cricket year, which will run from May 1 to the end of April. Fitness standards were also revised and approved.

Cameron noted that these "new and improved standards are intended to improve the performance of the teams and will be put in effect immediately."

As was reported at the end of day one, the WICB has acquired the services of Anthony Waddy Astaphan, noted senior counsel to look at the recommendations from CARICOM.

Astaphan made a presentation to the directors and will prepare a paper recommending a pathway "for both organisations for the benefit and improvement of cricket on and off the field".

The president also announced the release of the third running of the NAGICO Super 50, the region's premier one-day tournament, now set for venues in Trinidad and Tobago and St Kitts, scheduled to start January 7.

The tournament will have eight teams and will include the six regional teams, the Combined College Campuses and newcomers, ICC Americas.
