Five member federations have proffered official bids to stage events on the 2016 International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) calendar after the events were withdrawn from the banned Russian Federation.

official bid

Bydgoszcz in Poland, which hosted the 2008 World Junior Championships was the only city to make an official bid to stage the event next year. Jamaica's Dexter Lee won the men's 100 m at the World Juniors in 2008.

Four countries made official bids to host the AAF World Race Walking Team Championships by the final date.

The four are Ecuador (Guayaquil); Italy (Rome); Mexico (Monterrey), and Ukraine (Kiev).

An accelerated bidding process was opened for the two events following the full suspension of the Russian IAAF Member Federation ARAF, who were originally set to stage both competitions.

The IAAF will review all applications from now until January 6. An electronic vote among the IAAF Council will take place on January 7 to decide the two host venues, after which the successful candidate cities will be announced.
