PORTMORE United started the new year with a bang, flooding FC Reno 5-1 in the first round of matches for 2016 in the Red Stripe Premier League at Juici Park in Clarendon, yesterday.
Michael Binns opened the scoring in the 25th minute for Portmore before Javon East put them two ahead with a goal in the 43rd. Paul Wilson added a third in the 43rd and East had a second in the 45th. Kevin Deerr scored the final Portmore goal in minute 82.
Asiba Chambers scored the consolation goal for Reno at the stroke of half-time.
Meanwhile, Girvan Brown scored a penalty in the 23rd minute for UWI FC, before Horace Sharpe levelled the score in the 86th as Humble Lion and hosts UWI played to a 1-1 scoreline at the UWI Bowl.
At the Spanish Town Prison Oval, Harbour View held hosts Rivoli United to a goalless draw.
In the Monday Night game, Montego Bay will play host to Tivoli Gardens at the Montego Bay sports Complex, starting at 8:40 p.m.
