Top coaches remain confident

The head coaches of three of the leading schools seeking top honours at the 2016 ISSA-GraceKennedy Boys and Girls' Championships are confident that they will be celebrating tomorrow night.

Edwin Allen High's Michael Dyke, head coach of the defending girls' champion, feels they are well on their way to a successful defence of their title.

After six finals Edwin Allen are in front on 47 points, 14 ahead of Hydel High.

"We are a bit off our target but we are not worried as we have enough depth. Although we had several mishaps especially with our Class Four 4x100m ... the entire team is now refocused and we are confident of retaining our title,'' Dyke said.

The boys' battle appears to be going down to the wire. Kingston College's Neil Harrison and Calabar's Michael Clarke are both predicting victory.

| "We are very optimistic about our chances. Pre-meet predictions of a Calabar victory are only on paper, it is what you do on the day of competition that counts," said Harrison.

He added: "We are not surprised that we are leading as that was expected and all we have to do is to continue to play it safe and take it one day at a time."

Clarke is not worried that his team is 14 points behind KC at this time. KC have 37.5 points while Calabar are on 23.

"No need for any panic in the camp at this moment as we have a deep squad and we are just hoping that things will get better for us in the next two days," Clarke said.
