Bromfield can lead STETHS to 4x400m triumph
LED by the outstanding and versatile Junelle Bromfield, St Elizabeth Technical's (STETHS) girls have ruled supreme in the 4x400 metres all season.
Their best time was posted at the Gibson Relays where they clocked 3:36.91 in the preliminary round before finishing second in the final in 3:37 64 behind eventual winners Holmwood Technical. This was their defeat of the season.
At the Boys and Girls' Championships, however, they turned the tables on their rivals to score a big win in 3:37.40. This is the form they will be hoping to carry into the prestigious Penn Relays in Philadelphia next week.
favourites
With the likes of Kimeisha Chambers, Satanya Wright and Carifta Games Under 18 champion, Stacy Ann Williams set to join Bromfield they will definitely start favourites to gain their first Penn Relays title in the event.
It will not be easy, however, as Holmwood Technical , Hydel High and Edwin Allen High will surely give them something to think about.
Holmwood , the only team to defeat STETHS this season after clocking 3:37.35 at the Gibson Relays, warmed up for Penns at the recent MVP track meet where they won the event in 3:38.60. Holmwood are five times champions and record holders in the event.
Following their second place finish in 3:38.87 at Champs, Hydel will be gunning for their first win while defending champions Edwin Allen are seeking their fifth overall win. Although they have retained three members of last year's winning team Edwin Allen, based on their form this season, will have to improve significantly to defeat the favourites.
