Miller time at the Stadium

Shaunae Miller of The Bahamas will be competing in Jamaica for the second time in two months and she has promised something special today.

Miller, who won silver in the 400 metres at the World Championships last year, will once again be doing the 200 metres like she did at the Jamaica International Invitational meet. At that meet Miller posted a wind-aided 22.14 seconds to win the event.

The tall sprinter is looking forward to today's race.

"I am always excited to compete in Jamaica as the National Stadium here has become a special place for me, and I am looking forward to a fast time," said Miller.

She declined to suggest a time she will post for the event.

"I never put any time down but the main thing for me is to finish in the top three. I have been working well on my speed and strength so far this season, and I expect to drop a big time," she continued.

Miller, who is the world leader in the 400m with 49.69, stated that she has been motivated by her Beijing World Championships silver medal success.

"Beijing last year was a big success for me. This year has been my first full year in training at my camp, in Florida ... I do have some great athletes in my camp and I am very motivated," said Miller, who thinks it is going to take sub-49 seconds to win the women's 400m in Rio this year.
