McPherson clocks season best at final All comers meet
World Championships 400-metre finalist Stephenie McPherson tuned up for this month end's National Senior Championships with an impressive win on Sunday inside the National Stadium at the fifth and final Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association All Comers Meet.
McPherson, who last Thursday romped to victory in the 400 metres at the ExxonMobil Diamond League meeting in Oslo, clocked a fast 50.44 seconds to win, a season's best.
McPherson is now the number-one ranked Jamaican in the event this season, the time eclipsing the previous best of 50.72 seconds done by World Championships bronze medallist Shericka Jackson the previous day at the JN Racers Grand Prix.
Incidentally, Jackson was also in Sunday's race and had to settle for second in 51.26 seconds.
Intermediate hurdles specialist Janeive Russell finishing third in a respectable 51.76 seconds.
GOOD FORM
Sprintec's Ristannna Tracey continued her good form this season in the 400 metres hurdles as she also scored a good victory in 55.66 seconds, her second-best time this season.
It was a sister affair as Nikita Tracey finished second in 56.21. Her teammate at MVP, Danielle Dowie, was third in 57.20.
Carrie Russell continued her slow comeback to capture the women's 100m in 11.76, getting the better of St Catherine High's Shian Hyde in 11.95.
