I won't be back - Forbes

Former national captain, Simone Forbes, who retired from international netball after testing positive for a banned substance, has said she has no intention of returning to the Sunshine Girls line up.

"I am retired and I am just playing for fun," Forbes, who has been one of the most outstanding players in this year's Berger Elite League, told STAR Sports.

The highly-regarded player retired from international competition in 2011 after the Jamaica Anti-Doping Commission banned her for three months for the positive test for Clomid.

Since then, Jamaica has failed to produce a goal attack of her quality.

Forbes currently plays for the St Ann Orchids which she has led to four wins in this year's competition.

The only defeat came when the former national basketball player, was not in the lineup.

Fans have been calling for her return to a national programme hit recently by the sudden resignation of head coach Minnett Reynolds.

However, Forbes, 35, who has played more than 80 matches for the Sunshine Girls, said she has no interest in representing the national team again.

"I don't know about losing anything, but am absolutely not fit and I am much older but I have experience and experience teaches wisdom and I have limitations like anybody else," she said.

The former captain, has not totally divorced herself from the national programme as she has helped to guide the career of number of the young players including centre Khadijah Williams and her Orchids teammate, Shanice Beckford, who has been the Sunshine Girls' main goal attack over the last three years.

"Shanice has been around me for many years and she is someone that I communicate with. I play with her and I give her encouragement," said Forbes. "Whenever we are training I give her tips about trying different things and so I try my best to help her and also other players."

"It is not really my responsibility, per se, but I try to help them as a past national player," she added.

Forbes, who plays five different sports, first started playing netball in 1998 and has represented Jamaica in several World Youth and World Netball championships. She was member of the Sunshine Girls' team which won the bronze medal at the 2007 World Championships in Auckland, New Zealand.
