Veteran Janet Guy has been appointed head coach of Jamaica's Under-21 netballers.

The junior Sunshine Girls are currently preparing for this year's Under-21 Youth Championships in Botswana.

Guy has signed a five-month contract with Netball Jamaica, which took effect on March 1 and will run until the end of July.

The vastly experienced Guy, who guided Jamaica to a best ever placing at the World Youth Championships, when they won silver in 2000 in Wales, is looking forward to working with the team.

"I know that it is a lot of work, but I put country first and I see where I can make a difference, or help in the best way I can to bring about some kind of success to the team," said Guy.

The Under-21s won a bronze medal at the Championships in Glasgow four-years ago, and Guy said once they put in the work, then anything is possible.

"I am looking forward to it because we want a successful team, a healthy team and we want to see how best we can get the players to work together in this short space of time," said Guy, who led the St Ann Orchids to this year's Berger Elite League title

Conrad Parks will be Guy's assistant.
