Ja ready to floor USA at World Relays - Minzie

SPRINTER Jevaughn Minzie is confident Jamaica can win the men's 4x100m at the World Relays in Nassau, Bahamas, this weekend after taking silver behind the United States in 2015.

Minzie told STAR Sports Jamaica are determined to reclaim the gold they won in 2014.

"We don't have anything to fear because all we have to do is go out there and compete to the best of our abilities, and we will be victorious," said Minzie.

"People can expect great things from us in The Bahamas because it is Jamaica's 4x100m team, and great things always happen.

Best fit

"I like to run the third leg to hand over to my clubmate, Yohan (Blake), but I will leave it to the technical director and coaches to see where is the best fit for me."

Minzie will line-up with former 100m world record holder Asafa Powell, Blake, Kemar Bailey-Cole and Julian Forte.

The 21-year-old was a member of Jamaica's gold medal 4x100m relay team at last year's Olympic Games in Rio. However, Minize will be making his debut at the championships after being overlooked for the previous two World Relays.

"This is one of main my objectives, other from the World Championships, so making the World Relays team is awesome, so I just have to give God thanks," he said.

The stoutly built sprinter finished second in the men's 100m at the recent UTech Classics in a season-best 10.19.

Minize, who holds a personal best of 10.02, said he was happy with his performance and plans to run much faster this season.

"I am pleased with the time because last year this time I wasn't even running close to this time, so coming out and running 10.19 is awesome," he said.

"I am pleased with my season so far and it's just for me to get my times from 10-zero to nines, that's the objective," he added.
