'Teddy', 'Juice' ready for Portmore...Twenty-seven-goal pair set to fire on Sunday
Tivoli Gardens FC president, Edward Seaga told Star Sports that both Jermaine 'Teddy' Johnson and Elton 'Juice' Thompson returned to full training this week and will feature from the beginning in their return leg quarter final matchup against Portmore United this tomorrow.
"Both will be available for the game. They have trained this week. 'Teddy' started training on Tuesday and 'Juice' on Wednesday," Seaga said.
He said seeing the players in training this week, they both looked fit and ready, and he expects them to play from the opening whistle. "The coach is going to start them. I was at training myself and both looked fine in training. Both have been with the physio and she gave them the okay," he added.
Injuries
Johnson and Thompson, who are responsible for 27 of Tivoli's 47 goals, missed the last two weeks and the RSPL quarter-final first-leg due to injuries.
Seaga now expects to move on to the last four. "This is a boost for everybody, we should be okay," he said.
Portmore's captain, Ewan 'Butta' Grandison, said that with or without Johnson and Thompson they still expect a tough game.
"Tivoli Gardens is a good team, they always play as a team no matter who is out there, but we have what it takes to beat them," he said
He said Portmore got a satisfying result from the first-leg and they are looking to drive home their advantage at the Wembley Center of Excellence, where they enjoy good crowd support and have never lost.
"We played Jamalco there this season and we played Major League on it. Come Sunday, we expect 100 percent effort from everybody and we are confident because when our back is against the wall we always rise up. So we have no worries for Sunday," he said.
The teams are locked at 1-1 on aggregate, heading into Sunday's 3pm kickoff.
