KTHS look to rebound against St Catherine

Kingston Technical High School's (KTHS) new coach, Sean Charlton, believes his team can turn the tables against second-place St Catherine in their crucial Group D FLOW/ISSA Manning Cup game at St Catherine High today.

1-0 in their first meeting and currently sit in third place on 16 points, five behind leaders St George's College and four adrift of their opponents with three games to go in the group.

Charlton knows a win this afternoon will be key if KTHS want to claim one of the two automatic qualifying spots.

"I am convinced we can turn the events that took place in the first round. I was analysing that game and I realised the weaknesses in the St Catherine team. It went down to the 85th minute before they scored and it was caused by a simple error. Kingston Technical got opportunities and didn't capitalise, and in the latter part of the game lost concentration and gave away a goal," he said.

A win for KTHS would put them within a point of St Catherine and keep their hopes alive. A defeat would almost end their season.

"We are going for the win, we are definitely going for the win, because it is very, very important. It gives us something to play for and we want to create history for a team, community and adjoining areas. So they know what is at stake and what they need to do. It is in their hands to get the result," he said.

Kingston Technical will look to Joshua Walters, Javon Whyte, Jahlee and Janov Cunningham and Jouvani Phang while St Catherine will rely on Paul Dante, Jevaughn Cole, Jahmarie Henry, Joel Simpson and Maleke Miller.
