Waterhouse hold transfer talks with Ottey

Former national and Montego Bay United (MBU) striker Allan Ottey is prepared to make a return to the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) and is very close to a deal with Waterhouse FC following talks on Thursday evening.

When contacted yesterday on the matter Donovan White president of Waterhouse FC told Star Sports that he did not have much to say on the matter as his club is still in negotiations with Ottey's current club Faulkland FC of the JFF Western Confederations/ Charley's JB Rum Super League.

"The only thing I can confirm is that we are in discussion with his current club to possibly acquire his services. He has expressed an interest to join our club and both clubs and are in discussions but nothing has been finalised yet," said White, who made it clear there is no chance the deal will be completed in time for Ottey to feature for Waterhouse against MBU tomorrow.

Before the window opened, Ottey, who has three goals and three assists for Faulkland FC in as many games this season, said that he was not interested in making a move back to the RSPL this January, but was rather focused on helping Faulkland achieve promotion to the top flight. However, Ottey may have changed his mind because of the good form shown by Waterhouse since his former coach Donovan Duckie took over at Drewsland late last year.

Ottey, who played under the guidance of Duckie at MBU four years ago, told Star Sports that he believes playing again at the Premier League level this time for Waterhouse can help drive his ambitions as a player.

"He a very good coach and motivator, so definitely," Ottey said. "Duckie called me and said he is looking for a striker so I'm prepared to do my best, scoring some goals, assist as well to help them win the Premier League, because I'm trying to get myself back into the national team and get an overseas contract," said the speedy Ottey who made his debut for the Reggae Boyz in May 2016.
