Justin Walters, 14, yesterday bagged six wickets to help Clarendon College (CC) defeat Garvey Maceo High School by nine wickets in their Headley Cup Zone E fixture at Garvey Maceo.

Clarencon College coach Dwight Stewart said Walters, a member of Jamaica's 18-man squad for the regional Under-15 tournament set for this Easter, has shown he is a bright prospect.

"He has been working hard through training and I've been seeing improvements every day, so it's a good thing for him, going forward. He is a great prospect for the future, coupled with the fact that he can bat as well," said Stewart.

Garvey Maceo was bowled out for 17 runs. Walters ended with figures of six wickets for 12 runs off his five overs. He was supported by Sanjay Williams, who picked up the other four wickets for a mere five runs in 5.5 overs.

Bryan Hayles, 12 not out, led the visitors, who cruised to victory, posting 19 runs for the loss of one wicket.

Also in Zone E, Vere Technical defeated Denbigh High by 10 wickets. Romain Silva's five-wicket haul made things easy for Vere, who chased 48 runs, posting 52 for victory.

In other games, Brown's Town-Troy (Zone A) and BB Coke-Munro (Zone C) ended in draws when bad light forced stoppages.
