Super League Safe - State of Emergency not impacting competition

Organisers of the JFF Western Confederation Charley's JB Rum Super League say it is unlikely that the extension of the state of emergency in St James will impact the running of the competition.

Marlene Brown, the competition's secretary, said that she expects things to continue smoothly despite Parliament voting last week to extend the State of Emergency until May 2.

"So far, we have not encountered any problems. Even up to Sunday we had all our games, except one, which was postponed for reasons other than security. We haven't had any complaints of an issue with police for the security of games," said Brown.

Brown said that in a few instances, the state of emergency has impacted the start time for some matches. She said this normally results from teams being stopped at the parish borders for security checks.

Twelve teams are participating in the competition, six of which are from outside of St James. One of the St James teams, Reggae Youths, extend their unbeaten run to eight on Sunday after getting the better of struggling Montego Bay Boys and Girls Club 2-1 at the Urban Development Corperation field to remain at the top of Zone A on 20 points, eight clear of Harmony FC on 12.

Wadadah remain the only other unbeaten team in the league after a 0-0 draw with Granville FC at the Irwin High School field on Sunday. This, however, leaves them second on 14 points in Zone B, behind leaders Faulkland on 19 points.

Faulkland on Sunday dismissed Grand Palladium 3-1 for a second time this season.
