Assistant coach of UWI FC, Andrew Peart, is confident they can secure a spot in the 2017-18 Red Stripe Premier League play offs.

With two games to go in the preliminary round UWI FC are in seventh position on 42 points. Their two remaining games are against already relegated Sandals South Coast and third place Tivoli Gardens on 47 points.

The other teams just above UWI FC are Cavalier (sixth with 44 points), Harbour View (fifth on 45) and Waterhouse (fourth), 47.

Peart told STAR Sports yesterday, that they are very optimistic that they will land a playoff spot ahead of one of the teams now above them in the standings.

"I think our next two games are less challenging. Cavalier are down to play Reno and the latter are still in with chance," said Peart.

"Harbour View have to play Arnett Gardens and that will be a tough match for them. So we know that if we win our games, then we stand a great chance of getting into the top six," he added.

Cavalier will face tenth place Reno and defending champions Arnett Gardens in their remaining two matches while Harbour View will oppose Arnett and leaders Portmore United. Waterhouse are set to face ninth place Humble Lion and relegated Boys' Town.
