Barbican aiming for Super League semi berth

April 28, 2018

Leaders Barbican and Maverley/ Hughenden will clash in today's top-of-the-table match in Zone A of the Magnum/KSAFA Super League competition at the Barbican Field at 3 p.m.

Barbican, who are the favourites to win this year's competition, lead the standings with 26 points, with three rounds of matches remaining in the preliminary round of the tournament.

They are followed by Maverley/Hughenden, and Molynes United, who are tied for second spot with 22 points.

Christopher James, manager of Barbican, said they will be pulling out all stops to secure a victory today.

"A win is crucial as it will put us into the semi-final of the competition, and that is where we want to be right now," said James.

"It is always a very tough game between both teams, but the truth is, at this level, we are about even in terms of quality, and history showed that we have never had a game that is more than one-nil, so this match should be very exciting," James said.

Barbican will be resting their hopes in the hands of captain Ramone McGregor, Jermaine Parris and Andrew Christie to lead their charge to victory.

On the other hand, Maverley/ Hughenden will be depending heavily on the likes of Jhamar Sibbles, Wayne Williams and Shemar Dwyer to lead their team to victory.

Real Mona v Maxfield Park
