Price confident ahead of Reggae Girlz qualifiers

Andrew Price, assistant coach of Jamaica senior Reggae Girlz team, said the eight day pre-tournament camp in Orlando, Florida forms a very important part of their preparations ahead of next month's World Cup Qualifiers in Haiti.

Price told STAR Sports that the Jamaican coaching staff will be using the camp to finalise their strategies and foster team building ahead of the tournament.

"It (camp) is very important because we need to get the overseas-based players and the local players together so that we can have them in a cohesive unit," said Price.

"A lot of the players are based in the United States and so it is very important that we have a one-week camp before we travel to Haiti, before we start our World Cup Qualifying campaign," he said.

Kevena Reid, Chris-ann Chambers, Latoya Duhaney are the only

local-based players that have

been included in the Reggae Girlz 21-member squad.

Price added that the trio were selected after their impressive performances in their recently CFU friendly matches against Cuba and Barbados.

"Three players, who recently played in the CFU Championships will be travelling overseas to meet up with the overseas-based players to form the unit that will travel to Haiti," Price said.

"I am quietly optimistic that we will do well at the qualifiers because a lot of the players came from the Under-20 team that barely missed it to the Under-20 World Cup recently," he said.

We also have some seasoned professionals who have been playing across Europe and United States, and so I am quite optimistic that we will go to Haiti and do the job," Price stated.
