Charlemont High are now the clear favourites to lift the 2018 ISSA/WATA Ben Francis Cup following an impressive 4-0 win over Maggotty High in the quarter finals of the knockout competition at Dinthill High yesterday.

Renardo Brown (15th and 42nd minutes), Howard Barker (40th), and Deron Wildman (71st) were the goalscorers for Charlemont.

Kavi Meeks, coach of Charlemont, embraced the favourites' tag. He said it is only logical given the level of football they have been playing this season. He, however, said they would not become complacent but will now focus on the task at hand.

"I think since the preseason performances we have managed to attract public attention for the way we play. However, (after yesterday's result) we are going to try and ensure that what happened in the daCosta Cup does not occur in the Ben Francis," said Meeks.

"To be honest, after dropping out of the daCosta Cup, the players have now realised they have lost an opportunity. I think we focused too much on the expectations of others which resulted in us losing our way," he added.

Meeks said they will now play each game as it comes.

"We will not be perturbed by the favourites' tag ... we are just focusing on ourselves and ensuring that when the games come we deal with them ... the key now is to ensure we remain consistent."

Meeks said he is very pleased with the performance of his boys.

"It was good, we managed to break down Maggotty and get four goals. We are happy, as the objective of the game is to score goals. We could have been more clinical in front of goal, but, at the end of the day, winning was most important," said the Charlemont coach.
