Lennon fully focused on semi-final win

Byjeon Thomas, coach of Lennon High, is fully focused on his team's game plan ahead of today's clash against Charlemont High in the semi-finals of the ISSA/WATA Ben Francis title.

Lennon will face Charlemont at 3 p.m. in the second match of a double-header at Juici Park in Clarendon. In the first game, Petersfield and Port Antonio who both knocked out former champions at the quarter-final stage will square off at 1 p.m.

Thomas, in looking forward to the feature semi-final, says he is unconcerned about facing a team which is wearing the favourite's tag going into the semi-finals.

"Yes, I know persons are saying they are the favourites but I think every team that is in the semi-finals has an equal chance of winning the Ben Francis Cup. What we are looking to do is to stick as close as possible to the game plan and see how best we can execute ... we are looking for a favourable result," said Thomas.

Thomas believes that despite all the support behind Charlemont, it will not add any added pressure to either team. He, however, said semi-finals usually bring its own mental pressure.

"I don't think the mental pressure will come into play. I think the only pressure will be performing at your best in a semi-final knowing that you're just one step away from a final," said Thomas.

"All the players involved (from both teams) know that this is the last chance for silverware. I know we are going to be up for a very good game," he added.

Thomas, in his first season at Lennon, said winning the title would mean a lot to him as a coach and would give them something to build on for next season.
