National senior footballer Owayne 'Turtle' Gordon is now eyeing a move up to Major League Soccer (MLS) in the United States after a successful loan stint with San Antonio FC in the United Soccer League (USL) this season.

Gordon, 27 years old, netted six goals and dished out four assist in the USL this season and he told The Gleaner that he is now looking to make a move up to MLS next season.

"It is a work in progress, because we keep talking to clubs and clubs are reaching out, but things happen when they happen, so you can't count the eggs before they hatch. Hopefully MLS, and if anything comes otherwise, we will just take it," said Gordon, who is also eyeing a move to Europe.

"I am also focused on being in Europe and try to make that change in my life, but if it doesn't come, I will just continue to put in the work and hopefully the opportunity will come some day," he said.

BETTER SEASON

The talented winger who completed his third season in the USL on loan from Montego Bay United, added that this season was a much better one for him compared to the previous two.

"It was a better season than the previous two because I started this one from the beginning and I got a few more goals and assists, and that was a plus for me going forward," he said.

"I just want to keep growing every single year because this year was a big one for me, because I finished with six goals and four assist. So I was pleased with my performance in the competition and I am looking forward to bigger things next year," he said.

Gordon last represented the Reggae Boyz in the 2-1 win over Suriname on Saturday in their CONCACAF Nations League at the Montego Bay Sports Complex in St James.
