BRIDGETOWN, Barbados (CMC):

Cellar dwellers the Jamaica Scorpions and Trinidad and Tobago Red Force will clash in one of two Regional Four-day Championship matches today.

Red Force, who are currently fifth in the six-team championship on 90.6 points, host the Scorpions (two points behind in last place) at the Brian Lara Academy in Port of Spain.

In the other match, Leeward Islands Hurricanes will launch an improbable bid to win the championship when they clash with Barbados Pride.

The hosts trail leaders Guyana Jaguars by 23 points heading into the contest at the Vivian Richards Cricket Ground, still with a mathematical chance of overcoming the deficit.

However, they will need to produce a flawless performance to grab all the batting and bowling points on offer.

They will be without their regular captain, Test batsman Kieran Powell, who is one of two changes to the squad from the last match when they beat Windward Islands Volcanoes by six wickets.

Quinton Boatswain will also sit out the contest, with Kian Pemberton and Akeem Saunders included.

Prolific all-rounder Rahkeem Cornwall, who leads the side in Powell's absence, will have much to target even if Hurricanes fail in their bid.

The 27-year-old, repeatedly ignored by West Indies selectors in all formats, has already taken 51 wickets with his off-spin and needs 84 runs to complete the double of 500 runs and 50 wickets.

He also requires a further six wickets in order to reach 200 in the domestic championship.
