We are focused on getting points - Brown

REIMS, France:

Young Reggae Girlz live-wire Jody Brown says she and her team-mates are determined to pick up at least four points from their remaining two group games at the FIFA Women's World Cup, as they set their sights on spot in the next round of the competition.

The top two teams from each six groups at the competition, plus the four best third-place teams will advance to the knockout stage and although the Jamaicans currently find themselves at the bottom of Group C, following Sunday's 3-0 loss to Brazil in Grenoble, the 17-year-old Lime Hall, St Ann, native says the Girlz are looking to pick up at least four points in their next two games.

They will next face Italy at the Stade Auguste Delaune before returning to Grenoble to go up against Australia at the Stade des Alpes.

It's quite a daunting task for the Jamaicans, who knew right from the draw was made for the tournament that their first appearance at a FIFA Women's World Cup would see them facing three of the strongest teams in the world.

Brazil currently lead the standings on goal difference over Italy, with both teams sitting on three points and the skillful Brown, who played just under half and you in the defeat on Sunday, says the key for the Reggae Girlz is that they remain positive and focussed on their ambitions here.

"I am feeling pretty good, of course we didn't get the result we needed in the first game that we played, but that was just like, it was our first time, we now have to get over it and do what we came here to do," Brown said.

"We are really positive now. We know we need six points to get through or at least four points, so we are really just focussing on us and on what we need to do to get those points," added Brown.

If the Jamaicans advance to the next round, they would become only the sixth FIFA Women's World Cup debutants to make it past the group stage.
