Bull Sav will bounce back soon – Powell
Having been the most successful team in the competition's history with five national titles, Junction Bull Savannah, who failed to make the all-island playoffs of the SDC/Wray & Nephew National Community T20 Cricket Competition this year, is determined to return to national prominence in the near future.
The St Elizabeth parish championship title went to their fellow community-based counterparts Junction Ballards Valley, who won by 36 runs last Sunday at the Manley Horne Sports Park.
Captain of the Ballards Valley team, Troy Powell, is optimistic they will rise again with the addition of young exciting talents.
"It comes down to this. These two teams used to be together, we parted and they end up having the better players which are the parish players. What we have to do now is go in search of even more youngsters who can develop and keep Junction Bull Savannah going," Powell said.
"As you can see they haven't lost anybody since the competition has started. However, we have lost three of our players who are overseas. That's where the weaknesses came in so we just have to find youngsters, fit them in and come back strong for the future," he added.
Despite their rare failure to advance to the national play-offs, the Bull Savannah team who are proud of the mandatory community development project they have been involved over the years is looking to close their season on a positive note as they look forward to another opportunity of giving back to the community.
"Over the years, it has been great giving back to the community. We went to quite a number of basic and secondary schools and do what we could in providing some assistance in their needed areas.
"This year is another opportunity and we will be the same thing. No, not really we haven't decided as yet because the competition has just ended but we will go into a meeting and from there figure out who need help the most and take it from there," he added.
