Ten-time ISSA/Digicel Manning Cup champions Wolmer's Boys' have confirmed that they will not be playing their home fixtures in this ISSA schoolboy football season at their school ground. This is due to work being done on the school's field, which will not be completed in time for the season's commencement.

Wolmer's officials responsible for the initiative say the work being done is part of a rehabilitation project to boost the school's ability to ensure quality performances from the various sporting teams that will be using the field.

The school grounds, which have hosted football and cricket matches, as well as serving as the training ground for the track and field team, will undergo extensive work which is estimated to last three to four months.

As a result, alternative plans will have to be put in place to facilitate the teams affected.

There was, however, a slight contention over the usage of Stadium East, after it was reported that Jamaica College (JC) had also requested to use the field as their home ground.

With Wolmer's Boys' and Jamaica College both in the same Manning Cup first-round group, such an arrangement would cause clashes throughout the season and hamper the group's fixture.

Sources within the Wolmer's camp have confirmed, however, that arrangements have been made to use the Stadium East facilities months in advance of JC, leading to the Maroons getting the nod for use of the venue.

The 2019 Manning Cup season kicks off next Saturday at the Montego Bay Sports Complex with Kingston College taking on Excelsior High School.
