BEST

Portmore United

The defending champions are now beginning to find form after their second straight win of the season. It would seem that the rumours of their demise and the fall of head coach Ricardo Gardner were grossly exaggerated. They have now moved from the bottom of the table to eighth place, which has to be encouraging for the coaching staff. If they can continue this good form, Portmore should be right back where they want to be, challenging for the top two.

Molynes United

At this point, superlatives have been exhausted for Molynes United. They have now won five straight in the league after edging out Dunbeholden on Sunday. With Waterhouse's clash against Tivoli Gardens postponed due to their Concacaf Champions League quarter-final tie, they have now opened a five-point lead at the top of the table. It is clear that they have set the early standard but now they will be a marked team going forward. How they will handle the pressure that this brings, will go a long way in determining their title credentials.

Cavalier SC

Technical Director Rudolph Speid promised that the best of his side was coming. Evidence was shown on Monday night in dispatching UWI FC 4-0. The win will be a boost to Cavalier who now vault to third place in the league with seven points.

WORST

Humble Lion

The Clarendon club's unbeaten run has come to an end but it is concerning that they have not won a game since their season opening victory against Arnett Gardens. They have recorded three draws since the opening weekend and have yet to win in the friendly confines of the Effortville Community Centre. To compound matters, coach Andrew Price will have to shuffle his line-up as Levaughn Williams and Kirk Duckworth were both sent off in their defeat to Portmore United and will be unavailable for their Monday night clash against struggling Vere United. It is an opportunity to finally gain a first home win of the season and Humble Lion have to take full advantage of it.

Dunbeholden FC

It was always going to be a tough ask to stop the momentum of the league leaders Molynes United. Dean-Andre Thomas has scored all of Dunbeholden's goals so far this season but other players have to step up to share the load. The matches will come harder as they will visit Compound to battle Harbour View on Sunday.

UWI FC

The goals have dried up lately for the UWI FC. They have now failed to score in a RSPL game since the 47th minute of their 3-2 defeat away to Molynes United on September 8. Down 1-0 to Cavalier in the 43rd minute they kept it close until the 70th minute when the match was put out of reach. They are now in ninth place in the standings but are still in a position to make movements up the table with the standings so congested between third and 12th place. Coach Andrew Peart will, however, need to find a way for his attack to start scoring again. They will host second-place Waterhouse on Sunday who will not be forgiving if UWI fail to take their chances.
