Young Jamaican International Jody Brown has made another huge step in her fledging career.

The 17-year- old Reggae Girl has committed to play for NCAA Division one school Florida State University in the fall of 2020 in an announcement last Friday. Brown said that she is excited about the opportunity to continue her development at such a top programme.

"I'm really excited to start playing with the team and to just build on my game," she said speaking to her high school website Mount Verde Academy based in Florida. "It's really a great school and they have the best resources that will help me. I believe FSU is the best place for my development."

Brown was on the radar of several top Division one colleges including the University of Central Florida (UCF), University of Florida, Wake Forest University, University of Miami, University of Tennessee, and Arizona State University.

Mount Verde head coach Robbie Aristodemo said that Brown will gain tremendously at FSU.

"This is a perfect fit for Jody and a perfect fit for FSU," he said speaking on the high school website. "FSU will challenge Jody and provide opportunities for her to not only thrive at the college level but also professionally and internationally."

It has been a whirlwind year for Brown highlighted by her participation in last summer's FIFA Women's World Cup in France. She was an integral part in Jamaica's historic qualification and was named Best Young Player of the 2018 Concacaf Women's Championship.

She is in her final year at Mount Verde Academy in Orlando, Florida, where she accepted a full scholarship in 2017. During the 2017-2019 seasons she led the team in goals and helped to secure two consecutive state championships for the team.
